Smartphones with ‘self-healing’ displays will arrive within five years, analysts predict

Analysts at CCS Insight predict that smartphones with self-healing displays could start appearing on the market by 2028. This technology is still in its early stages of development, but there are already a number of companies working on it.

One way that self-healing smartphone screens could work is by using a nano coating that creates a new material when it is scratched. This material would then react with the air to fill in the imperfection. Another approach is to use a liquid crystal display (LCD) that is filled with a self-healing gel. When the screen is scratched, the gel would flow to the damaged area and repair it.

Self-healing smartphone screens would have a number of advantages. First, they would make smartphones more durable and less likely to be damaged. Second, they would reduce the need for repairs, which can be expensive and time-consuming. Third, they would be more environmentally friendly, as they would reduce the amount of electronic waste that is generated each year.

While it is still too early to say exactly when self-healing smartphone screens will be widely available, the fact that analysts are predicting their arrival within five years is a positive sign. This technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we use our smartphones.
